Tip for the Day

Household Crisis - Wine on the Carpet

Ever just moved into a new house that has brand new carpets or you just bought new carpets, very soon for one reason or the other you organize a party at your house.
During dinner, wine is served, but alas an accident occurs and BAM, wine on the carpet.

The stain should be easy to remove right? Not a problem, right? Wrong, if you don’t get to that stain on time, there goes your new carpets.

Solution
1. Blot up what you can with paper towels.
2. Next, lightly apply a solution of ¼ teaspoon mild washing – up liquid and 2 pints of water.
3. Work the solution into the affected area and blot with Clean Paper Towels to remove.
4. Rinse by lightly spraying with water and blot to remove excess water. (repeat until all suds are gone)
5. Then spray lightly with water and lay a pad of paper towels down, put a weight on the pad and let the towels dry.

If the stain remain:
1. Moistens the tufts with 3% hydrogen peroxide.
2. Let it stand for an hour.
3. Then blot thoroughly with clean paper towels.

This should work for you as it does for me, however if it doesn’t theirs always the option of taking the carpet to the cleaners.

Cheers.

PS – If you have a different solution, I’d love to hear it.
